ABOUT JULIE

I LEARNED THIS BUSINESS BY DOING IT

I started BarnBurner in 2015, long before I ever thought I’d be running venues.

BARNBURNER / EST. 2015

2015

I started BarnBurner by promoting my own shows.

I STARTED BY PROMOTING MY OWN SHOWS.

I started by promoting my own shows.

That meant finding talent, making deals, figuring out ticketing, marketing the shows and learning pretty quickly that booking an artist is the easy part.

Getting people through the door is where things get interesting.

There wasn’t a handbook sitting on my desk.

I learned by doing it.

Some things worked.

Some didn’t.

I paid attention to both.

And I kept going.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TABLE

THEN I LEARNED THE VENUE SIDE

Years later, my career took me to the venue side of the business.

Suddenly, I wasn’t just promoting shows anymore.

I was running the places where they happened.

And that gave me an entirely different education.

I’ve now worked both sides of the table.

TWO SIDES
ONE PERSPECTIVE

01

PROMOTER

I understand what it takes to build a show, make the numbers work, market it and get people through the door.

02

VENUE

I understand what it takes to run the
place where the show happens.

A CAREER
BUILT AROUND
THE SHOW

My work has touched virtually every part of putting on a show: booking, offers, contracts, ticketing, marketing, artist advancing, riders, hospitality, production coordination, sponsors, vendors, permits, staffing, box office, backstage and day-of-show operations.

I’ve worked in a theatre, at a large outdoor amphitheatre, festivals, special events and motorsports events.

I’ve learned how different a show looks depending on which side of the curtain you’re standing on.

SOME OF
MY FAVORITE
WORK HAPPENS
OFFSTAGE

The audience sees what happens on stage.

Some of my favorite work happens on the other side of the curtain.

Advancing the show.

Working with the tour.

Getting dressing rooms ready.

Handling hospitality.

Figuring out schedules.

Solving problems.

And making sure the artist and crew feel like somebody is paying attention.

PEOPLE REMEMBER

HOW YOU
TREATED THEM

I’ve built relationships with artists, managers, agents, crews and other people
throughout this business that I value tremendously.

“People remember how you treated them long after they forget what was on the catering table.”

And yes, sometimes this job means driving all
over creation looking for one incredibly specific
item somebody put on page 17 of a rider.

BARNBURNER TODAY

MORE THAN A DECADE OF REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

BarnBurner has grown right along with me.

What started in 2015 as me promoting my own shows now has more than a decade of real-world live entertainment experience behind it.

Today, I take everything I’ve learned from promoting shows AND running venues and put it to work for other people.

I don’t pretend to know everything.

Nobody who actually works in this business should.

But after more than a decade, I’ve gotten pretty damn good at knowing what questions to ask, what needs to happen next and who to call when something goes sideways.

That’s BarnBurner.

ONE SHOW.
ONE PROBLEM.
A FULL SEASON.

Whatever you need. Whatever the challenge. We’ll find a way to make it work.
